Google To Monetise YouTube via Adsense On Your Site

The news is that Google is looking to monetise videos placed on external sites. It was bound to happen as the growth in usage increased to their target levels.

The announcement is due today and is the second major move to recoup some of the £1.76 billion is splashed on Youtube 11 months ago.

The ads aren't expected to dominate the video but should just appear as a graphic below the video clip via the adsense network.

The videos, though will have some quality control. It isn't expected that every video in their database will be made available. Only videos that have have express consent will be shown.

It also appears that within the Adsense control panel you can choose which types of videos you would like to be shown on your site.

It smacks of annoying intersticials, but I'll leave judgement until I randomly find one on my internet travels and find out how annoying they'll really be!

Ah David you beat me to it. I was listening to Shawn's podcast this morning and he mentioned it then - had a funny take on it then!
