RSS Scrapping May Not Be New But It's Fecking Annoying

I've got a Toy Robots blog which has had it's content ripped off by some gits in Pakistan that have just used my RSS feed to populate their blog: go-robots.com.

I know it's not new and actually thought about doing it a couple of years ago but decided not to. But the upshot is that Google has seen it as a duplicate content as my posts are automatically added to the offending site - so Google can't authenticate it's orginality.

I've moved the feed url for now and changed it to a short feed. But I suppose these "guys" don't really know how aggrieved I can get and what I'll do to "get even". I'm left a message for them if they don't know!

So my advice is that every affiliate concerned about RSS scrapping should change their feeds to snippet mode and keep an eye out.

Rss scrapping is annoying, so snippet or title only is best option.

Also what annoys me is google news scrapping. The are whole blogs which just scrap google news. I am considering removing my google news feed link

Just add a link to your homepage and the blog post in the footer of your feed. Then the scrapers actually help your rankings.

I've had some success with

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/copyfeed/

If they are stealing your whole feed then it can include their IP address in the feed which you can then pick up from their website and blacklist using the plugin control panel.

Give me a shout if you want an example of where I'm using it.

Just wait for them to do their next grab and fill the feed with a load of rubbish and links to 'bad' sites that Google hates.
