Do Affiliate Competitions Work? Well They Do When The SunShines!
It always depends on if I feel I give the competition a good crack without falling on my face and if the prize is something I can win or if I feel if the competition is enough to get me off my backside, get away from doing other things and get me to do what I should be doing.
I recently won the Prezzybox Skiing Holiday, but I couldn't go as my other half couldn't get time off work and other bits and bobs - I was gutted! I've also won a heap load of chocolate from Ethical Superstore, the best newcomer prize from Thorntons which amounted to £500, and £260 from John Lewis for their widget competition.
Now it may look like I'm turning into a Frostie who seems to win everything. But, it's not very true. I've very selective as time is at a premium as I spend 80% of my time consulting and something would have to be really special for me to divert any of my free or affiliate time to work on a competition.
This is were I come to the affiliate incentive currently being run by Chris and the gang running the the Sunshine.co.uk affiliate programme. This is the competition to win one of 6 places to Barbados.
You're probably thinking that you don't "do travel". Well I don't normally. I've got a site that I set up last year after my trip to Cuba (surprisingly called "Cuba Holidays"). At the time Sunshine didn't have any accommodation there so I left it and got on with other stuff. But today I was thinking that I'm getting bored reviewing Easter eggs, and that I need a new challenge.
Then just looking through Twitter as I unpack yet another box of Easter eggs I see one from Affiliate Future talking about a whopping 6 places up for grabs to Barbados. The bells and whistles sounding in my ears and lights flashing in front of my eyes made me think "YES - THAT'S IT"!
The new challange for me is to get Sunshine's 108 Cuban properties reviewed, with pictures and maps into the Cuba blogs, monetise them and market them, basically within 6 weeks - whilst Easter is still going and set up to be a nice cash cow.
So do I divert my attention from making the most of that site or do I divert some of my efforts to improving the Cuba site and trying to win a place on the Barbados trip?
Barbados all the way baby! My last holiday of being a free man is enough to make the decision an easy one.
But if you need any motivation to get off your backside and take part in the Sunshine one then here they are:
1) James Little (J Lil)
A great host! Will keep you going when you're fit to drop!
2) Chris Frost (Frostie)
Mr Barbados - he'll make you chuckle from morning to night!
3) Me and my chest
You may be lucky enough to see it covered up.
4) Lovely Ladies
If you're single, there's plenty of them.
5) Harbour Lights
You've been clubbing, but you've never been to Harbour Lights!
6)The Worminator
Nights out aren't the same without it!
7) Mr Quinn
The phrase "LEGEND" was made for him!!
8) Banks Beer
The finest beer there is - bar none!
9) Great Scenery
Barbados is one heck of a beautiful island!
10) Road Trips & Friends For Life
Your experiences in that week will last for you for ever - just like the friendships you'll form.
So get promoting Sunshine now, you may just have the time of your life as a result!
