Matt Cutts Says Create Special Landing Pages For Local Search
lol - I've just gone through and tweaked a client's site to help them appear in Google Local Search. What I didn't do is create special landing pages for that purpose as it'd appear spammy - hey but now I've just seen Matt suggest I do!
darn it!
Still seems a bit spammy to me though! :-(

Hi Lee
Yes, it does seem a bit spammy. I guess it depends on the site. If it's an independent local business, it's probably a relatively small site and you have time to look at GA and see where the referrers are coming from.
I wonder if he was talking in terms of national companies who have local branches - perhaps his suggestion is more relevant for them?
Cheers, Jon
