Mechants: Not Thinking Like Customers (Annoyance #3)
So I bought myself a nice new Wii Console last year and signed up with the Swap Game Affiliate Programme on Paid on Results.
I go and order my first two games, GT Pro Series (rubbish) and Red Steel (not bad). I play them for a bit and sent them back just after Christmas. Now I've been waiting nearly a month to get some more games to come back. But they never arrive. So I email them and say that I've sent them back but nothing's come my way. Then they reply with:
Hi Lee,Are you kidding me? I'm supposed to get a certificate of posting from the Post Office every time I'm sending back a game??? You've got to be kidding me?!!
We have not received these titles back from you, could you please forward your certificate of posting to us so we can remove these games from your list.
Kind regards

I'm still waiting for a reply but if it's not satisfactory, I'll be emailing my Wii Console and PS3 subscribers telling them to avoid SwapGame.
In fact, GameFlirt on Affiliate Future have been great, asking for advice and feedback. So if you're looking to promote a games rental company, go for GameFlirt!

I would say your best bet is to promote GameFlirt on Affiliate Future as Swap Game have not had an Affiliate Program with Paid On Results for ages now. We closed them down a long time ago. I can only guess that you found them via doing a search online for there Affiliate program and joined via that way as it was an old loophole that we closed down recently as there is no way to join them inside the system. Anyways my experience of DVD rental has been that they just accept this can happen and believe you without need of proof of postage, guess that doesn’t apply to the game sector.
Thanks Clarke.
Yep I've seen that they're marked as "closed" now.
I can't find any message in the system talking about why they were closed. (I've probs deleted it).
What was the reason for their closure?
Lee
It was closed a long time ago, March 2006 I think it was, the void rate was far to high, higher than they agreed it would be on average so we had to close them as was zero point in Affiliates promoting them.
The new closed merchants system that we put live this year only has the Merchants since about July 06 listed in it.
As for people joining via doing a search on Google and finding the Merchants old page that is no longer linked on the site and then joining, well that loop hole was shut down to avoid confusion and we stuck a great big red text saying "closed" on that same page for them all :)
All little steps towards a better network but will we ever be perfect, I doubt it but I am sure you will agree getting shot of poor performing Merchants is a good step for all.
Definitely Clarke, I just wish other networks took steps to save affiliates wasting their time promoting merchants that just won't give a reasonable rate of return.
Kudos to Paid On Results!
