A Look Back at September 2007

I started off with a moan and a chuckle about deeplinking and Dilbert - it still gets my goat when people say you can't deeplink - sites should be encouraging it.

The following day I did what I view the traits affiliates need to be successful, this was picked up around the net and referenced on a number of affiliate and internet marketing blogs.

I then had a look at Advanced MP3 Players, and detailed why I think they're a model merchant - and they're just about to get even better.

Then a new client came on board, they actually start with me today. I asked if any affiliate management agencies would be interested in looking after them, as I prefer to get involved with the PPC and SEO. There was a good deal of interest - so all those that have spoken to me about them, I'll keep you informed of the client's progress.

I then noticed that Google was asking users to help improve their results and wondered what impact that would have on SEO.

I then did my first "SEO tip of the week" which looked at duplication and reviewed Buy.at new content engine - which I thought was great!

I then predicted that there would be a media onslaught for social media sites and started a debate about whether that professional bloggers should join the NUJ.

I then reviewed a seminar about online PR that I didn't think was totally accurate and I stated that I liked adJug - lads I need to get back to you on stuff!

The Northern Rock issue prompted me to write about how affiliates could tackle a recession if it came about.

Then apathy hit me but I ended up writing about advanced link building strategies.

I was then one of the first to comment on Google ending the agency kickback scheme and viewed it as just one of many actions to try and keep more cash in the business.

Following on, I did a positive piece (cough) about how SMO is starting to become more important than SEO (did I really?)

Then I thanked AF for a great knees-up at Camelot Theme Park and Chris at Hotel Chocolat for the great chocolate that I'm still munching my way through.

I went back on to the social media front with a post about how much money there is to be made from Facebook.

I was disappointed with the level of interest in the e-consultancy report on merchants and the affiliate marketing industry. I was surprised that many people didn't pick up on my indepth review of it - ho hum!

Compete's Search Analytics
launched, even though it's not focused on the UK market, I thought more affiliate bloggers would have picked up on it. Stay tuned for an interview with the guys.

Then I reviewed the Affiliate Summit and showed some photos (thanks Shawn).

I then had a look at ZiiTrend - which is a cool social media site and came up with some essential blogging tips.

All in all, a great month. And there's loads of exclusive content to come on this blog - stay tuned.
